Ofsted 'personal development' in schools

The ‘personal development’ aspect of the 2019 Ofsted framework was introduced to better evaluate the aspirational and behavioural qualities of your students – less focused on their academic achievements, more on their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.

Ofsted or Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) inspectors will examine the physical and mental welfare of your students, such as their motivation, confidence, self-esteem, and respect for others, so they can make a healthy transition to adulthood and become active, positive members of the community.

Online learning for Ofsted 'personal development' targets

Persona can help you reach your Ofsted or ISI personal development targets, setting your students up for success in their adult lives. The Persona Life Skills web app works with your students, using intuitive, engaging online learning techniques to help them grow in six key life skills areas, boosting their personal development and wellbeing:

  • Being realistic
  • Communication
  • Open-mindedness
  • Problem-solving
  • Resilience
  • Self-control

PSHE/RSE curriculum

The PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic) curriculum is, for the most part, compulsory in primary and secondary schools in England, and ties in with your school’s Ofsted inspection requirements. Persona’s e-learning web app can be used as part of your PSHE curriculum in KS4 and KS5, helping your students understand important concepts and incorporate them into their lives, like:

  • Self-concept
  • Mental and emotional wellbeing
  • Managing risk
  • Bullying/ Abuse
  • Social influences
  • Learning skills
  • Work and career

With the important update of Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) guidance arriving in mid-2020 and being taught from September 2020, there is now even more emphasis on relationships. Persona helps to lay down a solid mental foundation for healthy relationships among peers, guiding students in their thinking, communication and behaviour, towards positive outcomes relating to:

  • Positive relationships
  • Consent
