PSHE/RSE in secondary schools

From September 2020, it is compulsory to include PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic education) and RSE (Relationships and Sex Education) in your school’s curriculum for secondary education in England. PSHE education focuses on the physical, mental and emotional knowledge and wellbeing of your students, so they can lead safe, healthy lives beyond their KS4 and KS5 education.

Within PSHE, RSE is an important part of lifelong learning about the emotional, social and physical aspects of growing up, relationships, sex, and sexual health. PSHE lesson plans can be incorporated into other subjects of your school’s curriculum, to cement your students’ PSHE learning through to adulthood. A successful PSHE curriculum will boost individual students’ academic and non-academic performances.

Positive education

Positive education goes beyond standardised tests and academic achievements, because not every young person responds in the same way to a broad, uniform curriculum. Persona adopts a positive education approach to teaching students through:

  • Strengthening relationships
  • Building positive emotions
  • Enhancing resilience
  • Promoting mindfulness
  • Living a mentally healthy
    lifestyle
